Red Hair

So, as I mentioned previously, I tried, but failed to dye my hair red. I tried again last night, this time with a lot more success. It's definitely red now. It's a little more orange-y than I was hoping, but I still rather like it. So there it is. My first TYSIC goal done.
I'm not sure if I'll keep it for very long, but at least I've done it. I've dyed my reddish tones before, from a purple-y brown to a gingery blonde. I'm not sure why I love being a red head so much, or why I find that it suits me more than my natural colour (a sort of light ash brown) but it does. I think it's my the scottish blood and the few freckles on my nose so kindly donated to me by my Granny.
I figured that this would be a last kind of crazy thing I do with my hair before retreating back to the world of the natural, but I quite like my red hair. Sure it might be high-maintenance and look kinda shitty when I inevitably don't bother to take care of it, but there's something special about being a red-head. Something nice about being different and standing out from the crowd.
I was thinking this as I walked down the street, 5'11" plus 3" heels, shiny faux-leather jacket and flaming red hair... maybe all I want is attention.

  1. I think you're right - there is something about being a red head. My hair hasn't been its natural colour since I was 16 - that's very nearly half my life. I've been every colour from whitest blond to darkest brown and everything in between (although never black) and I always seem to come back to red. It's definitely something to do with the freckles I reckon!

The hair looks ace by the way - you should stick with it!

  2. Thanks Sarah, and yeah. I went away from red since June last year, I liked my natural(ish) colour with blonde streaks, but it just wasn't red.

  3. Red hair is good though, but trust me, if you want attention go bright green ;)

  4. Green's not my thing. It doesn't suit me (even to wear it), plus red makes my green eyes really stand out.

  5. I have black hair, my friend tried to dye it blonde and it turned ginger. Eventually I got it to a dirty brown colour and I loved it but my hairs never been the same since because of all the bleach. I have had purple hair in the past and I'd love to go bright red but terrified it'll go wrong, your hairs lovely though.

  6. Thanks! I'd like it a little richer red, maybe a little less orange-y, but if I decide to keep it for a while, I'll find a way that I like it.
